What is Reiki?

Reiki is a form of alternative therapy, which originated in Japan in the early 20th century and is built on the belief that the body is innately able to heal itself. The word ‘reiki’ roughly translates to ‘universal life energy’ (Rei-Ki) and it’s this energy that is all around us and within us that we use through our hands to help heal your physical, mental, emotional and spiritual self.   This is why it is so important that our Life Energy is balanced because if it isn’t then you are more likely to be stressed, anxious, depressed, angry, irritated, restless, sleep deprived, etc., etc.…the list goes on. However, if your Life Energy is balanced, you will feel happier, more positive, healthier, empowered, joyful, have more clarity of mind, feel full of love for self and others. Now, who wouldn’t want that?

What happens in a session?

You will be fully clothed sitting in a chair or lying down on a comfortable table. Hands will be placed over specific areas of the head, limbs and torso for about 5 minutes each, and it is then that the energy can flow from the hands to the body. You will begin to feel a sense of warmth or tingling in the areas that are being worked on, you may also feel a lovely sense of relaxation occurring within the whole body.

Who is it for?

It is for everybody, from babies, to children, adults to elders and even animals as it is very safe. It’s
calming for babies and children, peaceful for adults, reassuring for animals and gives peace in helping people transition at the end of their lives.
